Terms of Service

Chesham Lock and Key Services Ltd

1. Introduction

1.1 These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern all locksmith services (“Services”) supplied by Chesham Lock and Key Services Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”).
1.2 By booking or otherwise requesting our Services, you (“you”, “your” or “Customer”) confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms.


2. Definitions

  • Mobile Locksmith – A trained and insured locksmith who travels to the Customer’s premises to perform Services.
     
  • Premises – Residential or commercial property located within our coverage area.
     
  • Emergency Call‑Out – A request for attendance outside normal working hours (08:00–18:00, Monday–Friday, excluding public holidays).
     
  • Parts – Locks, cylinders, keys and related hardware supplied by us.
     
  • Workmanship – Labour provided in the course of delivering Services.
     

3. Scope of Services

3.1 We provide non‑automotive locksmith Services only. No car, van, motorcycle or other vehicle work is undertaken.
3.2 Typical Services include:
 • Gain‑entry (non‑destructive where reasonably possible)
 • Lock replacement, re‑keying and fitting
 • UPVC and composite door mechanism repairs
 • Security surveys and hardware upgrades
3.3 We may decline to perform any Service that we reasonably believe is unlawful, unsafe or beyond our competence.


4. Bookings & Arrival

4.1 Bookings may be made by phone, email or our website. A provisional arrival window is provided in good faith.
4.2 Emergency Call‑Outs are prioritised; stated response times are estimates, not guarantees.
4.3 You must ensure access to the Premises at the agreed time. Failed attendance caused by your unavailability may incur a call‑out charge (see §6).


5. Prices & Payment

5.1 Pricing structure
 • Standard call‑out (08:00–18:00): fixed attendance fee plus labour charged per 30 min.
 • Emergency call‑out (out of hours): higher attendance fee plus labour premium.
 • Parts: charged at list price as quoted before fitting.
5.2 A full price estimate is given prior to commencing work. Verbal acceptance constitutes authorisation.
5.3 Payment is due immediately on completion by card, cash or approved bank transfer. We do not offer credit unless agreed in writing.
5.4 All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable.


6. Cancellation & Rescheduling

6.1 Standard bookings may be cancelled or rescheduled without charge up to 2 hours before the agreed arrival window.
6.2 Cancellations within 2 hours, or where we arrive and cannot gain access, may incur a missed‑attendance fee equal to the call‑out charge.
6.3 Special‑order Parts cancelled after acceptance may be charged in full.


7. Warranty & Guarantee

7.1 Parts warranty – 12 months from installation date against material defect (manufacturer’s terms may apply).
7.2 Workmanship guarantee – 90 days from completion against defects in labour.
7.3 Warranty is void if:
 • Parts are misused, tampered with or installed by third parties;
 • Damage results from burglary, forced entry, vandalism, or accidental damage.


8. Customer Obligations

8.1 You warrant that you are the legal occupier/owner or have proper authority to instruct work at the Premises.
8.2 You must disclose any known security system (alarms, CCTV) or structural issues that may affect the Services.
8.3 Following completion, you are responsible for testing the lock operation before we leave.


9. Liability & Insurance

9.1 We hold public liability insurance of £5 million. Certificate available on request.
9.2 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for any liability that cannot legally be limited.
9.3 Subject to 9.2, our total liability for any one event or series of related events shall not exceed the price paid for the relevant Services.
9.4 We are not liable for:
 • Indirect or consequential loss (including loss of business, profits or data);
 • Pre‑existing faults or damage;
 • Delays or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control (see §10).


10. Force Majeure

We are not responsible for failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from acts or events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, floods, fire, industrial action, pandemics, or breakdown of transport.


11. Data Protection & Privacy

11.1 We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018.
11.2 Personal data collected (e.g., name, address, contact details, service history) is used solely to provide and administer Services, handle billing and meet legal obligations.
11.3 We do not sell or share your data with third parties except: (a) where necessary to fulfil the contract (e.g., payment processors); (b) as required by law.


12. Complaints & Dispute Resolution

12.1 If you are dissatisfied, please notify us within 14 days of the Service date. We will investigate and aim to resolve within 10 working days.
12.2 If we cannot reach agreement, you may refer the matter to an approved Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) provider. We will provide details on request.


13. Amendments

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will be posted on our website and will apply to future bookings. Material changes will not apply retrospectively without your consent.


14. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
